On March 23rd, 2018, the Provincial Government of Ontario made an announcement that will impact the availability of medical treatment for the communities they serve in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. Hospitals in the area are receiving generous funding increases that will help deliver additional resources necessary to bettering the wellness and health of residents throughout the area.
Which Hospitals are Receiving the Funding Boost?
The funding increase applies to all major hospitals in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. St. Mary’s General Hospital will receive $7.58 million, while Grand River Hospital will benefit from $4.04 million. Additionally, Cambridge Memorial Hospital will receive $1.99 million in funding. In total, this amounts to over $11.62 million dollars to benefit residents and visitors to the region with increased healthcare capabilities.
When it comes to securing more efficient and future-facing healthcare, the Kitchener-Waterloo region is an ideal recipient for additional funding. With this boost of resources at their disposal, local hospitals are now able to rise to meet the daily needs of residents and visitors to the area better than ever. This will be achieved by introducing innovative new modern forms of treatment, upgraded technology, and the allowance for greater capacities. In turn, this will lead to even better operational efficiency, allowing for the Kitchener-Waterloo region to emerge as one of the best-treated areas of Eastern Ontario.
Safeguarding Local Communities
Local hospitals have essentially held their own as best as possible (budget-wise) in an increasingly expensive industry, but with the need for more patient beds and an unexpected increase in emergency department visits, this investment by the Province of Ontario comes at an ideal time, allowing for breathing room as well as opportunities to expand and better accommodate more patients with premium-quality service.
This monetary boost is part of the $822 million in additional funding pledged to Ontario hospitals by the provincial government for 2018-2019. The aim is to reduce patient wait times, expand the capabilities of essential services, and increase patient capacities. Funding is always greatly appreciated by healthcare providers, as it helps to more efficiently keep citizens and visitors healthy, safe, comfortable, and served as well as possible.
With this announcement of additional funding for area hospitals, the Kitchener-Waterloo region is sure to emerge as a shining example of how well-funded healthcare facilities can drastically benefit the local communities they serve. Combined with the homecare services of Qualicare Waterloo, we can collectively work as a team to deliver further unprecedented service quality, efficiency, and patient satisfaction!
