If you’re lucky, you might experience the beginning of as many as ten decades in a lifetime. As the start of the 2020s nears ever-closer, our team at Qualicare Waterloo has been looking back at some of the defining moments from the past ten years. From incredible technological innovations to breakthroughs in assisted dying policies and more, there’s a lot of ground to cover. Here are the moments that stood out to us, for better and worse, and brought us together.
The Japan 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami
The violent Tōhoku earthquake that struck mainland Japan and triggered a catastrophic tsunami in March 2011 broke our hearts, made us weep, and drove us to contribute towards making a difference. At the same time, it also raised awareness about the dangers of nuclear power and the risks of not keeping building codes up to date, the former of which hadn’t shone so brightly in the spotlight since the horrific Chernobyl disaster of 1986. Disasters such as these draw us closer to one another, remind us of what we’re fighting for, and inspire us to make a positive difference in the world. That’s why such events stand out to our dedicated caregiving team.
Smart Technology and a Focus on Health
The Apple Watch is probably one of the most well-known health monitoring devices of the modern age – the newest models can even be used to take ECG readings! Not only that, but smart technology has proved very useful in helping us monitor our fitness, diets, lifestyle choices, and much more. It’s never been easier to keep tabs on your wellbeing, and it’s also a breeze to research effective new ways to improve your health thanks to the modern smartphone and Google Chrome!
Eco-friendly lifestyles are all the rage, and it’s a trend worth hanging onto! As we lower our carbon emissions, make smarter investments and optimize our ways of life to conserve valuable resources, communities everywhere benefit from cost savings, a healthier environment, and more peace of mind. As more incentives are made available and the cost of modern technology decreases with adoption, we’ll undoubtedly have many benefits to take advantage of.
The Focus on Healthcare Improvements
Collectively, Canadian healthcare providers and third-party caregivers have made great efforts to meet rising demand. Even we at Qualicare Waterloo have been – and continue to – take on skilled new employees to reach as many locals in need as possible with our services. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made even with demand continuing to rise, and we’re fully committed to making a difference in the next decade and beyond! Thanks to our hardworking and dedicated team of caregiving professionals as well as community support, anything is possible.
What are the most memorable moments of the 2010s for you? Also, are you excited to see what 2020 and beyond has to offer? We sure are! Here’s to the moments, good and bad, in the last decade that brought us together and inspired us to do good.
